Talia Goldenberg '12 Award in Studio Art at Carleton College
The Talia Goldenberg '12 Endowed Award in Studio Art recognizes a senior studio art major with extraordinary promise and who also embodies Talia's spirit of community and humanness. Seniors receiving distinction on their comprehensive exercise are eligible. The studio art faculty or its successors will choose the recipient each year. Carleton College has discretion to determine the process through which to make the award for this specified purpose.
Recipients should reflect the extraordinary qualities Talia brought to campus as an artist and as a person. Through her art she expressed truth, compassion, joy, whimsy, as well as struggle and pain. Talia lived and modeled these humane qualities even in the face of health issues and immense pain. Tragically, she died unexpectedly the day after a surgery at age 23. Talia's friends and professors remember her grace under difficult circumstances and the passion with which she pursued and complete her own senior comprehensive exercise with distinction. Talia exhibited delight in the world, compassion for others, and courage and tenacity in facing life's challenges.
